Private Bike Tour: Imperial Vienna

Duration:   03h 00 min

Overview

Discover the legacy of the Habsburgs and see the most important sights in the city center of Vienna on this comprehensive 3-hour bike tour. Biking is cool and convenient: you get to see more, actively experience the city, and help to protect the environment!

First of all, you pedal along the Ring boulevard. Marvel at the impressive buildings in the style of Historism constructed under Emperor Franz Josef, like the State Opera House, the Museum of Fine Art, the Parliament, the City Hall, the Court Theatre and the University. You also pay a visit to the nearby MuseumsQuartier, which accommodates the Museum of Modern Art (Mumok) and the Leopold Museum.

In the old town your guide will lead you through the narrow one-way streets and show you world-famous sights like St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Graben street with the Plague Column, the church of St. Peter and Jew's Square.

Of course you will visit the area of the Imperial Palace extensively. With over 2.600 rooms it is one of the world's largest building Complexes.  Admire the ample wings and courtyards of the Hofburg and see Heroe's Square, the Spanish Riding School, the stables of the Lippizzan horses and the church of St. Augustine. It was there that Franz Joseph married the sixteen-year-old Sisi in 1854.

Towards the end of the tour you will see the Albertina museum, the Sacher hotel (famous chocolate cake) and the Monument against War and Fascism.

This easy tour is suitable for bikers of all levels and conditions! There are no uphill sections and we generally use bike paths or one-way streets with little traffic.

Enjoy the individual service and personal athmosphere of this private tour: Your knowledgeable guide is ready to respond to (almost) your every request and requirement. Listen to intriguing and amusing stories about Vienna and its inhabitants and take advantage of your guides’ insider knowledge. Lots of photo opportunities!

Imperial bike tour is awesome !
On a whim I decided to spend the long weekend in Vienna. I called through the day before, requesting a specific afternoon time slot. It was confirmed within a couple of hours. The guide met me at the hotel, with a hired bike, and we set out. The itinerary was explained clearly, and I was given every option to specialise the tour to my desires. The guide was very knowledgeable with history, music, architecture, and art; able to answer all of my questions. We were unlucky: it rained. However, the expert guide was able to reconfigure the tour with some tours of the churches. Each visit was backed with local stories; it felt like I was meeting the characters. I was fortunate enough to have the tour extended due to the rain, because the guide really wanted to show me this wonderful city. This is truly a VIP service; thanks for introducing me to this magnificent city.

Took 2 Tours – Both Very Good
I took 2 tours with this company while in Wien - a bike tour with Ulrich and a Prague tour with Julia (and a Czech guide who we meet in Prague). They were both very good tours. Ulrich and Julia speak excellent English and provide a very interesting perspective on Wien, Germany and the region (they are both under 35; I found their take on the history quite interesting). I spent over 12 hours with Julia back and forth to Prague and she was a fantastic guide. I truly enjoyed the day. I highly recommend this company if you are looking to do tours in Wien or around the area.
