Your private guide will pick you up at your Vienna hotel. Climb into a minivan or limousine and depart Vienna, bound for the Vienna Woods. After a short drive, you visit the scene of the famous tragedy of Mayerling. The Austrian crown-prince Rudolph and the 17-year old baroness Mary Vetschera tragically committed suicide in the imperial hunting lodge in Mayerling in 1889. With your guide tour the commemorative chapel and the small museum.
Driving west you quickly reach the medieval abbey of Heiligenkreuz. Beautifully situated within the Vienna Woods it is one of the highlights of this tour. With your guide visit the romanesque cloister, the fountain house and the chapter house with the coffin of the last ruler of the Babenberg family. You'll also see the amazing romanesque chapel (except Sundays).
Through the idyllic Helenental valley you drive on to the romantic wine-town of Gumpoldskirchen. Stop for a glass of wine in one of the local wineries before driving back to the city. Your tour concludes at your hotel in Vienna.
